No Price on Friendship

Evening Everyone.
Hope you have had a lovely weekend. Mine seems to have passed in a flash! We met our friends on Saturday at a lovely country pub that is a favourite place of ours. It is called The Fox at Chetwynd Aston which is in Shropshire. The food is very very nice but I feel a little bit over priced. Most of the time we are quite careful with our money but sometimes, on occasions such as this we do treat ourselves. We only meet our friends once every couple of months and they are very important to us so we never quibble about the cost. Hubby had a beef and chorizo burger served with chips and a small salad. I had a goats cheese salad. We both had two coffees each too and the bill came to £41.50. As I say though, you can't put a price on friendship. We had a lovely, lovely time. Next time we meet, we are actually going to stay with them over night. My friend is an author, but, volunteers one day a week at a care farm. The farm supports young people with complex emotional and social needs. It is an amazing place and actually won Countryfiles farming hero award last year. Here is the link if you'd like to have a look. bbc-countryfile-farming-hero-award. Myself and Hubby will be visiting while we are there as our friend says that Julia is desperate to pick our brains.I have actually sent her information and advice in the past to help with a specific child. Even though Hubby and I have retired we are still very passionate about helping students and young adults with special needs. I'm looking froward to going.
Well, tonight I went to the coop and bought a few bargains.

A punnet of blueberries for 20p and two punnets of plums for 15p each = 50p
The problem was that I also bought these!
These were £1.50!!!! I shouldn't of bought them for many reasons - I'm on a diet, they were a bigger than normal bag, I'm trying to buy only what we need.
Oh well, It's been one of those sort of weekends. Am I going to fuss about it? No! I do my very best 90% of the time but I'm not perfect. I know my weaknesses and chocolate is one of them. I'll just have to walk an extra lap of the fields tomorrow to walk off those calories.
Until tomorrow ( An early night for me, I have three of the five grand kids to babysit, wish me luck!) .
Jules x

I will try to read all comments and reply. Please be polite and kind. Thanks :)

  1. You certainly needed (still needs?) luck while babysitting three of these handfuls.

Oh those diets! My husband always says that 'eating 50% of the usual amount' is the best way to lose weight. I cannot stick to that. I think not buying sugary stuff (and crisps) is the best way, but then again, don't we need some joy in life every once in a while?

  2. Evening Ivy, I survived - just! It's taken me an hour to tidy up and when I sat down I was shattered. It has been one long round of making food and drinks and entertaining. Love them to bits but thank goodness we don't have them every day. Only got one tomorrow and she is no trouble at all. I think your husbands diet idea is a good one but unfortunately I have zero will power. x
