The wanderer returns
Afternoon Everyone.
Hope everyone is well. I feel like I've been away forever when in reality it's been just over a week!
We have been to Wales where we have a family caravan. We have had a caravan on the same site for 26 years and we have decided that we would like to move to somewhere else.
We still want to stay in Wales and so have been looking around at lots of caravan sites and finally we have found the one we like. It is on the outskirts of Conwy which is a place we really love so we are looking forward to moving there.
We have had a lovely, lovely time away, just the two of us and of course the dog. He has come with us to the caravan every time we've been since he was a puppy and we couldn't go without him. He loves his walk on the beach and just being out and about with us each day.
A visit to Wales just wouldn't be complete without a visit to Betws y Coed. If you've never been you really should. It is a beautiful little place with shops, walks, and lovely places to eat. One such place and one that we always go to is The Alpine Coffee Shop. We love to go for breakfast before a drive through Snowdonia and a good walk, the scenery is amazing. We don't eat out much when we are away but we have certain places that we like to go. There are two reasons for this, One is the cost and second is because we like to eat healthily even when on holiday.  That said I do have trouble saying no to a whippy ice cream or the odd cake.
Inside the cafe with its quirky interior

They have a really good menu including plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices and a specials board too.

Sorry about the darkness of the photos but the interior is painted mostly in dark colours.
The cafe is dog friendly and in fact positively encourage you to bring your pets inside.  Our dog gets really excited when we go in as he knows he will get a treat. When we buy our breakfast we always buy him a dog sausage ( well two but we save one for later in the day as a treat).
All the food here is ethically sourced and much of it is local too.

A full English breakfast with a tea or coffee and toast with preserves is £8.95, which for the quality of the food, I think is really reasonable.

A very patient spaniel is waiting for his treat. I chop it up into small pieces so that he will sit and wait to have a piece now and then, otherwise, there would be no chance of him sitting and behaving while we eat ours. He thinks he can visit every table for a fuss and give the puppy eyes in the hope of getting tit bits. So naughty!

Do you take your pets on holiday with you? Do you eat out all the time or cook for yourselves sometimes whilst away? Do you have favourite places that you don't mind visiting over and over?
Until next time
Jules x

I will try to read all comments and reply. Please be polite and kind. Thanks :)

  1. That reads like a lovely holiday, in one of my favourite parts of Wales.
And what a lovely dog you've got, he/she makes your heart melt. In the Netherlands it is not much appreciated when you bring a dog into the restaurant, it's usually only allowed on the terrace.
To be honest we like to eat out (and do it a lot), both on holidays and back home. When we are on holiday in the UK we like pub grub, Sunday roasts and Indian food.

    1. He is ten now Ivy and its taken till now to get him calm enough to take into a pub or cafe. He is truly a mad cocker spaniel but we love him.
I have to admit that I enjoy a good indian meal out too. Probably my favourite x

  2. We always take our current dog with us as he’s too nervous to stay with a house sitter and we’re finding more and more places are welcoming dogs inside. We often go to the east coast of Yorkshire where there are lots of quiet beaches, cafes that will slip you some treats for the dog and most importantly people about with their own dogs who’ll take the time to meet ours in a quit, non-threatening way.

    1. I'd love to visit East Yorkshire a i've never been. Hubby has been lots of times on walking or cycling holidays with the lads,he want's to go fossil hunting as he says that the beaches there are really good. We have never had a sitter for our dog unless its our own kids or ever put him in kennels. x

  3. Look at your sweet little baby waiting there so patiently (ahem) for his treat. It sounds like you had a simpy lovely time.

    2. I have been away on holiday in Sicily to celebrate my 60th (yikes) and am only just now catching up with your blog! Ha and there you go talking about Betws! That's so weird. My mom was born there and both my gran and my uncle had rather large boarding houses there (Tan Dinas was my uncle's and Bodhyfryd was my gran's) so I spent every summer there (swimming in the river Conwy until my hands went blue). Have you ever seen the salmon trying to jump back up stream over the huge rock in the centre of the village? Oh and my brother lives in central Conwy, just by the castle, where my aunt had a café too. Small world isn't it! Anna
